The Showband performs seven days a week, mainly at night (6:00 pm to 12:30 am). You will be playing for scheduled activities, such the Broadway revues performed several times a week in the main show lounge, Dance sets, Cocktail sets, Embarkation sets, Talent shows, Masquerade parties, and fun & games. The first month of your contract is spent intensely rehearsing these shows, especially the production numbers and those of the guest entertainers.
A typical cruise line contract will stipulate the maximum number of hours you are required to work weekly, usually between 35 and 42 hours, including rehearsals. This is organized on a daily basis by the Cruise Director and is left to his discretion
There are no salary provisions for overtime. However, based on our own experience, the number of hours worked a week may be as low as 14.
