Stage Manager / AV Manager
The Stage Manager / AV Manager is either the manager of an
Audio Visual team or the only technical person on the ship.
You must be able to work the sound and lighting equipment for
the production shows, presentations, games, etc.
On duty during all shows and rehearsals, your responsibilities
include:
- overseeing the sound of all activities including games
& presentations
- supervising the sound for all bands and cocktail pianists
- managing props, setting up microphones
- doing occasional announcements on the microphone
- basic maintenance and repair of equipment
Depending on the size of the ship, the Audio Visual team can
vary in size from one person to seven people under the supervision
of the Stage Manager/AV Manager. The smaller the ship the more
versatile you have to be. On a larger ship, duties will be more
specific, such as Lighting Technician, Cyberlight Technician,
Stage Helper, etc. On a larger ship, the Stage Manager / AV
Manager must have management skills to supervise the audio visual
team, do the work schedules, be the liaison with the head office,
write the evaluation reports of his/her employees, request new
equipment, etc. The Stage Manager / AV Manager is under the
supervision of the ship's Cruise Director, who is responsible
for scheduling.
