This page is a tool designed for you to communicate your availability,
and specific needs to Proship. Your availability is the key to getting
called for a gig. We handle a great volume of musicians and an even
greater volume of phone calls, therefore our focus, naturally, is
on the most likely candidates. Keep ProShip up to date on your availability
by filling out this simple form and submitting it. If, or when your
availability changes, just submit another form. This is the best way
to keep us updated so you never have to miss the
boat !!!
If you are musician, entertainer or technical staff who has
successfully passed his/her showband audition or promotional
package audition with Proship, you are a qualified musician
and by updating your availability, we we will contact you
when we have openings that correspond to your availability.
If you are musician, entertainer or technical staff who has
not yet passed our audition process, still feel free to update
your availability, keeping in mind that you will need to pass
our audition before we can offer you work. To find out how
to audition with ProShip, please click
here.
There are 2 types of availability:
-
Regular Availability: "Call me with
any offers you may have. I currently have some work in town, but
try me in 3 months; my schedule may open up.
-
Solid Availability: "I am committed
to working 4 months starting on this date. I am freeing up my schedule
to go work on a ship. Call me if there is an opening.
As you would expect, Solid Availability offers a superior advantage
in getting work because a solid commitment means we can confidently
fill a position for the cruise line with an available, qualified musician.
As well, priority is given to musicians available for 4 to 6 months.
Musicians available for only 1 month are less likely to find work.
For shorter contracts or emergencies, priority is given to veteran
musicians who have ship experience, and to those who scored very high
on their audition. Musicians know that timing is everything! There
may be periods when there are no openings for your instrument, or
you just may not be available immediately. If such is the case, maintain
contact with us; sudden and last-minute openings are not uncommon
!
Frequently asked questions:
I have successfully passed my audition and am on the calling list.
What next ?
When we have openings in our rotation, we notify those musicians who
have worked for us successfully in the past. We next call musicians
who have auditioned with us and whose availability matches the job
requirement. Musicians scoring highest on their audition are called
first.
What if I scored a 3.5, 4 or 5 ?
Then you should update your file and availability with us either via
our web site or by calling us. We suggest updating your availability
on a regular basis at www.proship.com/availability. Solid
availability are called first.
What if I scored a 3.0 ?
Passing our audition is not a guarantee that we will call you for
work. Some Cruise Lines have specific needs and only want to hire
musicians who have ship experience. A score of 3.0 is usually not
strong enough for any positions. We highly recommend upgrading your
rating by getting more experience and re-auditioning with us when
you feel ready.
ProShip is approached by a large number of musicians looking for work
on cruise ships, and it is a challenge to promptly answer every inquiry.
We are always interested in the needs of every musician. Your best
way to communicate and update your availability is by submitting this
form. Simply fill in the following fields and send it to us. Your
information will be activated in our database as well as every new
form you submit. Best of luck.
[Usual starting salaries with ProShip in the cruise industry range
from $350 to 400.00 US/week for sidemen. There may be exceptions for
musicians with ship experience and those with outstanding professional
experience. However, if you want to get started in the cruise industry,
you should be ready to accept a starting salary in the above-mentioned
range.]
